March 9 - March 11

So, I don't have any pictures for these three days. Last night we went in to Labor and Delivery because I started having some pretty regular contractions again. This time we waited for them to continue at regular intervals for about three hours before we went in. They continued once we got there but I wasn't really experiencing any other progression so the Doctor on call had us walk the hallways for an hour. After that I my contractions felt stronger but still no other progress. So they gave me a shot of morphine for what they call morphine rest, which is something they do under these circumstances over night. It was after 11 at this point I think and when you are having painful contractions like this the morphine helps you to go to sleep so you can get some rest, it is then supposed to either help the contractions calm down or wake you up in labor. Well a few hours later my contractions started getting stronger, so we were thinking maybe it was time, but still no dilation or other real progress. So, the Doctor decided this probably wasn't real labor and she was going to send us home. Right around the time she decided to send us home my contractions started to slow and eventually just stopped. The Doctor's opinion was that we would probably be back within a day or two to have Carter, but needless to say I was pretty bummed out. By the time we left the hospital it was about 8 o'clock, we had spent the entire night in a L&D triage room, which means I was on a gurney the whole night instead of a real bed and Caleb was in a chair. Even with the morphine I didn't really get any sleep and Caleb didn't get any either, so we were both pretty beat.

Today Caleb was also scheduled to drive up to Modesto for a WGI regional. He was supposed to be the administrator representative on hand for this regional but considering the current events we of course decided that he needed to stay home. Based on our due date when we were thinking ahead back in the fall we figured this weekend would be a perfectly safe weekend for him to travel, he was staying in California and if needed could hop in the car and be back home in a quick 6 or so hours if needed. The only problem with him not going up to the regional was that he was in possession of the voice recorders that the judges needed to use during the show. He knew one of the groups traveling up to the regional from Southern California and late Thursday night sent an email out to all the instructors from that school asking for info about when they would be leaving. This way Caleb could drive the recorders to Arcadia High School in time to get them on one of the buses. A good friend of ours, who works with that school but wasn't going to be traveling to the regional with them, drove out to the hospital in Ontario from West Covina at about 1 o'clock in the morning to pick the voice recorders up from Caleb. He then woke up super early Friday morning to drive the recorders from West Covina to Arcadia High School by 8 in the morning so Caleb wouldn't have to worry about it. It sure is great to have such wonderful friends that are so willing to help you out when you need it.

We got home and thankfully my dad was willing to take Cameron back to NanaGrampy's house after coming over to stay with him and not really getting much sleep himself, so Caleb and I could get some rest. We were able to sleep until sometime in the early afternoon and then spent the rest of the weekend waiting for something to happen. I guess taking pictures was the last thing on my mind for these few days.
